The electrical jobs homes need

Most homes don't need a major project. They need a couple more power points where the furniture actually sits, a ceiling fan in the bedroom, better lighting in the kitchen, or a circuit for a new appliance. The jobs are small, but they still need to be done properly, to current standards, by a licensed electrician.

We'll talk through what you want to achieve, check what your existing wiring and switchboard can support, and give you a clear quote before any work starts. Photos of the area and your switchboard help us understand the job before we arrive.

When the work is done, it's tested and you receive the required electrical safety documentation — the same standard whether it's one power point or a larger upgrade.

04 Questions

Common questions answered

Do I need a licensed electrician for a small job like one power point?

Yes. In Queensland, electrical work — including adding or moving a single power point — must be done by a licensed electrician. A small job is also a good chance to add anything else on your list, like an extra light or ceiling fan, in the same visit.

Do I need a dedicated circuit for an induction cooktop?

In most cases, yes. Induction cooktops draw a lot of power and are normally installed on their own dedicated circuit. We check the cooktop's requirements and whether your switchboard has the capacity before quoting — and if it doesn't, we'll explain the switchboard options.

How do I know if my home needs electrical upgrades?

Common signs include switches or power points that feel warm, lights that flicker, circuits that trip regularly, not enough power points for how you use a room, and an older switchboard with ceramic fuses.

If you notice a burning smell or scorch marks, stop using that outlet and have it checked straight away.

Do you work in townhouses and units?

Yes. We work in houses, townhouses and units. In strata properties, some work may need approval from the body corporate — particularly anything that affects common property — so it's worth checking before work is booked.
