EV Charger Installation Redcliffe Peninsula & Moreton Bay

JJ Brothers Electrical & Air provides EV charger installation for homes and businesses across the Redcliffe Peninsula, Moreton Bay and Brisbane. We install single-phase and three-phase charging systems, and every install starts with an electrical load assessment, so your charger has the right circuit protection and your switchboard can handle the extra demand.

01 Before you buy a charger

Charging that suits your supply

A wall-mounted charger is faster and more convenient than charging from a standard power point, but the charger is only half the job. The other half is making sure your electrical installation can supply it safely alongside everything else on the property.

We look at your existing load — air conditioning, cooking, hot water, pool equipment — along with your switchboard and supply, to work out what charging setup makes sense. For most homes that's a single-phase charger; three-phase can allow faster charging where both the property and the vehicle support it.

We'll also help you choose a practical spot in the garage or carport, plan the cable route, and make sure the circuit has the protection an EV charger requires.

02 Options

Home & business EV charging

Single-phase and three-phase charging systems for residential and commercial properties.

01

Single-phase chargers

The most common home setup, suited to overnight charging for everyday driving.

02

Three-phase chargers

Faster charging for properties with three-phase power and vehicles that can accept a higher charging rate.

03

Load management

Chargers that adjust their charging rate so the car doesn't overload your supply while other appliances are running.

04

Garages & carports

Charger positions planned around where you park, with tidy cable routes and suitable protection for outdoor locations.

05

Townhouses & units

Installations for strata properties, where body corporate approval may be needed before work on common property.

06

Business premises

Charging for workplaces and commercial properties, planned around the site's supply and how the chargers will be used.

04 Questions

Common questions answered

Do I need a dedicated EV charger, or can I use a power point?

You can charge from a standard power point, but it's slow, and regular heavy use is better suited to a dedicated circuit. A wall charger on its own circuit is faster and more convenient for daily charging. We'll recommend a setup based on how much you drive and what your supply can handle.

Can I install a three-phase EV charger at home?

Only if the property has three-phase power — and the benefit depends on your car, because many vehicles can only accept a certain charging rate on AC power. If your home is single-phase, a single-phase charger is usually the practical choice. We check both your supply and your vehicle before recommending one.

Will an EV charger overload my switchboard?

Not if it's assessed and installed properly. We check your existing load and switchboard capacity first. If there isn't enough capacity, options include load management, a lower charging rate or a switchboard upgrade.

Can you install an EV charger in a townhouse or unit?

Often, yes — but in strata properties you'll usually need approval from the body corporate first, especially if the charger or cabling affects common property. We can provide details of the proposed installation to help with that approval.
